The history of Kaptas
1991
Beginning
The technology company Promector Oy was founded in Turku.
The company designed and manufactured unique machines and production lines for various industries, initially operating in Iso-Heikkilä, Turku.
In 1995, production was moved to Oriketo, and in 2001, it was relocated to Runosmäki production facilities, where Kaptas’ Turku business unit still operates today.
From the beginning, the company focused on cleanroom expertise and developed systems such as handling systems, assembly automation, and robotic applications for the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries.
2007
Beginning
The technology company Kaptas Oy was founded in Joensuu.
The company started operations in the former Perlos facilities on Nurmeksentie, Joensuu, employing former Perlos workers with strong expertise in component production for the technology industry.
Kaptas quickly grew from a five-person company to an automation expert with over 10 employees, offering services in handling systems, equipment construction, design, programming, and product development.
Growing company
By the end of the 2000s, Promector had grown to employ nearly 20 people. In addition to design and machine construction services in Turku, the company had its own machining workshop.
During this time, Promector completed over 300 client projects, mainly in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries.
The company also developed its own equipment, including devices for mixing and dispensing pharmaceutical substances.
2010
New facilities
Kaptas moved to new facilities in Ylämylly, Liperi.
The factory, covering approximately 1,300 m2, was built by the local development company Lipertek Oy.
Since then, Kaptas has operated as a tenant of Lipertek in Ylämylly.
2015
Iso 9001
The global certification body Bureau Veritas granted Kaptas the ISO 9001 quality certificate.
This certification ensured that Kaptas met the quality requirements set by the pharmaceutical industry for its subcontractors and could operate as a reliable equipment supplier for pharmaceutical clients worldwide.
2019
Acquisition
Movetec Oy, a company specializing in the import and sales of mechatronics, automation, and industrial IT components and part of the Addtech Group, acquired Promector.
By this time, Promector had grown into a versatile automation company employing over 20 people with extensive experience in supplying equipment for the pharmaceutical and electronics industries.
2020
Acquisition
Movetec Oy acquired Kaptas in 2020.
At this point, Kaptas employed over 20 automation professionals.
2021
Merger
Kaptas and Promector merged.
The company continued operations under the name Kaptas and employed over 40 automation professionals at that time.
