Kaptas Joensuu business unit

Kaptas Oy and Promector Oy have merged

The new company will continue to grow under the Kaptas name, with the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries as driving forces behind this growth. Kaptas, formed from the merger, is part of the international Addtech Group, which comprises over 130 companies in Europe. The group employs around 3,000 people and has a combined revenue of over one billion euros. Kaptas’s units in Joensuu and Turku serve the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries, as well as companies in the plastics, metal, and electronics sectors. Kaptas employs a total of approximately 50 professionals in its units.

The merger is a natural continuation of Movetec Oy, which is also part of the international Addtech Group. Movetec acquired Promector in 2019 and Kaptas in 2020. The goal is to further strengthen the position of the newly formed Kaptas as a provider of smart automation and increasingly extensive projects.

– The merger of Promector and Kaptas creates a strong company in terms of expertise, capacity, delivery reliability, and quality production. As part of the Addtech Group, Kaptas is an even more stable partner for the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries, where automation investments are typically demanding both technically and in terms of scheduling. The pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries also impose specific quality requirements on production technology, says Markku Suominen, Chairman of the Board of Kaptas and Movetec Oy.

Synergy of Expertise

The merger creates a unique center of expertise in industrial automation in Finland. Founded in 1991, Promector is known as a pioneer in automation for the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, and electronics industries. As a designer and implementer of special machines, the company has played a significant role in the internationalization of Finnish pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries.

Kaptas, established in 2007, also has roots in telecom and medical business. The year 2012 was a breakthrough for the company—it introduced a unique concept crucial for the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring rapid market access for products in the early stages of development and production.

The expertise of the newly formed Kaptas is best realized in innovative and energy-efficient handling solutions that significantly improve productivity for challenging products.
